Tax Residency Days

Lugara counts your days in each country for every calendar year, and only you can see the count.

Updated Oct 16, 2026

Potential Tax Residency sits at the end of your profile. Each year lists its three countries with the most days, newest year first, and marks those with 180 days or more, where many countries start to treat you as a tax resident.

How Lugara Counts Your Days

  • Every date a trip covers counts, including the days you arrive and leave.
  • A travel day between two countries counts for both.
  • A date counts once per country, even when trips overlap.
  • Days count up to today, and a planned trip counts once it begins.
  • A year runs from January 1 to December 31.

A trip counts for the country or territory it was saved with, so Hong Kong counts as Hong Kong here, while your country collection counts it for China.

Only the trips you add count, so add your time at home as trips too.

When the Section Appears

It stays hidden until one of these is true, as Lugara Product Brief #1 explains:

  • A past year has a country with 180 days or more.
  • This year has a country with 90 days or more.
  • This year’s three countries with the most days add up to 180 days or more.

These numbers aren’t tax advice. Countries set their own rules and often look at more than days, so check with a tax professional.
