Write the Trip Your Way

You writeLugara reads
Flew to Lisbon next Friday for 2 weeksLisbon, Portugal, from next Friday for 14 days, by plane
Took the train to Berlin from May 10 to May 20, 2024Berlin, Germany, May 10 to 20, 2024, by train
Porto from December 3rdPorto, Portugal, from December 3, with no end date or transport
EdinburghEdinburgh, United Kingdom, from today, with no end date or transport
  • Relative dates, such as “next week”, count from today.
  • A date without a year falls in this year.
  • Without any date, the trip starts today.
  • A length sets the end date, as How Trip Dates Work explains.
  • Words such as “flew” or “train” set the transport mode.

Lugara picks the best-known city with the name, so add the country for another one, such as “Paris, Texas”. It saves the English name, so “München” becomes Munich. OpenAI reads your sentence and Mapbox finds the city, as the privacy policy describes.

Fill In What’s Missing

Add Trip stays unavailable until the trip has both dates and a transport mode. Choose Other when no mode fits.

If Lugara picked the wrong city, select Start Over and add the country.

Start From Where You Are

Before you type, the form’s corner offers your city, and either button starts the trip today:

  • Use your city, such as “Use Berlin?”, comes from your internet connection. Lugara looks it up in its own database without storing your IP address, and a VPN can throw it off.
  • Detect Location asks your browser for your location once, and Mapbox finds the city.

When Lugara Can’t Read the Sentence

  • “Could not extract trip details. Try rephrasing.” means the sentence isn’t a trip or its dates are unclear.
  • “Could not find a city named …” means you should check the spelling or add the country.
