The Exploration Score now looks at four parts of how you travel, gives you a traveler type, and no longer drops when you go somewhere new. A new Destination Novelty card shows how often you do.

If you travel a lot, you might have watched your Exploration Score slide down over time. The old score divided your new places and countries by your number of trips, so every trip made a high score harder to reach, even when you kept exploring.
We rebuilt it. The new score looks at four parts of how you travel, and a trip somewhere you haven’t been before never lowers it. You also get a traveler type that describes how you explore. Because the score works differently now, your number and type will change.

Your score combines four dimensions. Each one is rated from 0 to 10 and gets its own bar on your profile, so you can see what drives your score:
When you visit a new place, every part of the score stays the same or goes up. Returning somewhere you’ve been lowers Destination Novelty a little, and trips home count as returns too.
Your strongest dimension decides your traveler type. Visit lots of countries and you’re a Globe Trotter. Keep going somewhere new and you’re a Trailblazer. Reach many latitudes and you’re a Climate Chaser. Mix short and long trips and you’re a Versatile Traveler. If all four dimensions are high and close together, you’re a Renaissance Traveler.
There are twelve types in all. The info button next to your score lists them and highlights yours.
Below the score, a new card breaks Destination Novelty down into new destinations and return visits. If 30 of your 50 trips went somewhere new, it shows 60% new destinations and 40% return visits, with the trip counts next to each.

Your first visit to every city counts as new, so your new destinations match your Locations Visited, and the two trip counts add up to your Total Trips.
The score and the card appear once you have six past or current trips.
