What exactly does Lugara track, and what insights do I get?
The core of Lugara are the trips you add: a city-level location with a start and end date. From this, Lugara generates your locations, builds a travel timeline and calculates insights such as visited countries, city count, travel streaks, time spent per country, geographic coverage, evolving travel patterns, and much more. New statistics are added continuously.

Do I need to install an app?
Is my travel profile public?
Can I share my profile only with friends?
Can I import my past travel history?
Yes. You can add past trips manually, or import them automatically from selected services.
At the moment, we support importing or continuously syncing your trips from your NomadList profile, and you can also import any previously exported Lugara data.
We are currently working on an automated import feature for your Google Timeline through Takeout and Android device export.

Why would I use Lugara instead of a regular notes app or map app?
Maps only show locations. Notes only store text. Lugara combines everything into a complete picture of your travel history: where you went, how long you stayed, how your journeys connect, and what patterns emerge over time.
It transforms simple trip entries into timelines, visited-country overviews, stay durations, streaks, coverage maps, tax-relevant day counts, and a profile you can share or keep private. No generic app gives you this structured, end-to-end view of your travels.
Can Lugara help with tax residency tracking?
Yes. Lugara keeps a precise day-by-day record of where you've been and presents this in an easy-to-understand overview at the end of your profile page. The tax residency section is only visible to you, even if your profile is set to public. This makes it easy to monitor 183-day rules, country-by-country stay durations, and potential tax residency overlaps.
Additionally, as we balance between casual travelers and nomads alike, the section only shows if any of these conditions are met:
- Any past year has a country with ≥180 travel days
- The current year has any country with ≥90 travel days
- The current year has ≥180 total travel days across all countries combined
However, please note that Lugara does not provide tax advice. Always consult a tax professional for your specific situation.
Is Lugara free?
Partially. All core features are available to everyone, but we limit trips for free users to currently 10.
You can always upgrade to Lugara Pro within the app for unlimited trips, to support ongoing development, and for general good karma.
We offer a monthly/yearly subscription, or a lifetime plan.
How does Lugara handle my data and privacy?
We store only the minimum data needed to run your account and your trips. All data is kept securely in the European Union under strong GDPR protection.
We don't use third-party trackers, advertising cookies, or behavioral analytics, and we never sell your data.
Your trips are private by default, you retain full ownership of everything you add, and you can export or delete your data at any time in your account settings.

Can I embed my profile statistics on my own website?
Can I access my Lugara data programmatically?
Yes. Lugara provides a private API endpoint for your profile that lets you fetch trip data in JSON format using your personal API key. This makes it easy to build your own tools, dashboards, or backups on top of your Lugara data.
What happens if I stop using Lugara?
Your data stays stored and private. You can come back anytime without losing anything.
You can also export your data or delete your account with all its data at any time, no hard feelings.
